I had the chance to broadcast at Wolf’s 1-11 Arena Sports Grill before the Rascal Flatts show at the TU last night and it was so awesome to hear from listeners how much they love the station, warms my cold little heart.    I’m not only on the air, I also manage the station so it’s kind of like a little radio baby.   Of course I want to hear that people like it!

Some of my favorite moments from 104.9 The Cat include, debuting our mascot…Cooter.  Yup, Cooter.   My old manager named him.  People love meeting him, seriously.

Most of all watching the station grow has been the most rewarding.   I’m still working behind the scenes on the station while a replacement is found.   I’m staying with the same company, in the same building, just moving to a different station  that’s literally the studio next door to mine.  Super excited about my new opportunity but I’ll miss 104.9 The Cat.

In 14 years in radio (I started when I was 17) I’ve worked physically at 5 stations, been heard on about 20 stations, I’ve had about 9 different managers and easily 200 co-workers.    Always change, but I’m sure it’s the same at any other job.

I clickety clicked into the Giants apparel store and was pleasantly surprised to see some nice, simple things for women to wear that wouldn’t look like guy’s stuff:

Le sigh, the purse.   Hmmmm.   Ok, so maybe a Giant’s purse isn’t that bad.  I mean, if you’re a fan and you need a purse you might as well show some love, right?  I’m trying not to be too snarky here.

The boots are a little scary, but I bet they’re super warm and they’d look cute with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings.   I’m sure I’ve got boots that some people might laugh at, so no judgement…just a raised eyebrow.

The scrunchie has to be my absolute fave.   I mean, I’ll wear a scrunchie to the gym, but does anyone wear them out and about anymore?

I’m just waiting for the floor length Giants formal gown to hit the apparel store, you wait, it’ll happen someday.

I found it at BJ’s for about $150.   My last vacuum had lost all suction and was just sort of pushing things around, one sweep of the house with this thing and the floors are amazing.   Really easy to assemble, and I love that it’s purple!  I’m actually excited to vacuum later today.   Who am I?   I’m also excited for the Giants game tonight…seriously, who am I???

I’ve been on a gem habit.  It’s actually pretty bad, but that’s a completely separate blog post to come.   I’m just really into making things have more sparkle.   I attempted to make my own sparkly set of gloves but that just sucked because I’m crappy at crafting.  Instead I turned to the interwebs in search of my blinged out gloves and it turns out I need to save up for the things I want!

Sparkles

I love sparkly things. I’m not the craftiest person in the world but I can glue. I love accessories that are a little unexpected. I had some down tome over the holidays and went a little nuts making fun headbands. Gems. Buttons. I know it’s a little out there.

It’s different. I’m going to post a bit more about this another time. There were some trials and errors with glue.

Skating

We just live skating this winter. Kiddo and I hit up Swinburne over the weekend. I just love it there. Such a great place to skate and it’s fun to see kiddo buying snacks from Denny’s snack stand (I remember buying them from Denny when I was 5.). Oh if you do skating this winter I recommend lacing up with hot pink laces:

Even though I jumped off the vegan experiment for a slice of pizza last week, I’m back on. Work has been crazy and I haven’t had time to make dinners much this week. I’m living off of veggie wraps that I stuff with bright veggies (obsessed with purple cabbage.)

I feel like I should create a category called “recipes I steal from oh she glows.” I’m just a fan of her recipes. Last night we tried the vegan chocolate chip recipe. I thought they were pretty good, kiddo did dump on cinnamon though. Must remember that if I ask a kid to sprinkle in a bit of something, they’ll probably dump it in. Ahh well cinnamon chocolate chip cookies aren’t that bad !

What’s the big deal?  Well, ok, it’s a celeb wedding, it’s not a big deal at all, but allegedly they tied the knot in upstate New York.  I realize this covers a wide area but her husband, Chris Tyrrell, is from the Saratoga County area.   I’m thinking that “upstate New York” means the Capital Region.   But where?   Here’s a video that the new couple posted on the Lady Antebellum site.  It certainly looks gray enough to be this area.    I heard a few rumors that it might be at the Apple Inn in Altamont.   My guess?  Saratoga Polo Club, or maybe a private residence?   Can you spot where they tied the  knot?

I didn’t watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s until I was in my 20′s, I wish I had seen it sooner, it’s such a lovely movie.   Audrey Hepburn is simply adorable as Holly Golightly.  Did you love her apartment in the movie?

Want to live there?   It’s available.   Technically this post should be “if i had 5 million dollars,” but whatevs.  Yes the building from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is on the market for a mere $5.8 million.   If only.

Since the apartment isn’t in most of our futures, put up your hair, break out the fake diamonds and little black dress and watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s tonight.   Bonus if you’ve got a George Peppard lookalike to snuggle up with.

That’s what I call snot freezing cold.   Classy way to describe the weather, but entirely true.  Instead of being able to run out with a light jacket on I’ve got to do the bundle:

I’m not a big fan of the bundle.   I had to say bye to my fingerless gloves for real gloves and remembered that I can’t really use my iPhone when gloves are on.   Not a huge deal, I’m cool with not checking emails when I’m outside, but this product caught my eye:

SmarTouch gloves!   The little pads on the fingers still let you get your swipe on.   Genius!   I’m sure they’ve been around forever but when I saw these yesterday it made my day.   If winter is for real about staying in the Capital Region, I may splurge on a pair of these.

Despite the chilly temps I’ll still make a smoothie to go this morning.   I’m going to try my own creation and hope it doesn’t suck too badly.

1 cup chocolate soy milk

2 handfuls of spinach

1 tablespoon of almond butter

1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed

maybe half a banana if it needs firming up and of course some ice cubes.

I’m in the mood for something chocolatey so we’ll see if this hits the spot.   Stay warm!

So those holiday things.   How were they for you?   I got to see my big Irish fam, kiddo got what he wanted.   I was gifted over 7.5 pounds of candy.   My family likes to give the gift of Krause’s:

To offset the dark chocolate overload I’ve been starting my days with THE GREEN MONSTER.   mmmmm.   If you told me six months ago that I would enjoy drinking spinach in the morning I would’ve laughed in your face.  Stopped.   Then laughed again.  It’s so freakin’ good.   I take them to work in a little cold cup when I can’t lounge in my bed and enjoy.

Oh, side note.   I had the chance to house eat a portobello mushroom burger at Juicy Burgers & More, so good.   A little heavy on the balsamic but still delicious.   Try it, seriously, at lunch tomorrow go and eat it.  Get sweet potato fries too.  You’ll have to run a few extra miles but it’s worth it.

New Year’s Eve kiddo and I went crazy, I had the champagne, he had the Shirley Temple.   New Year’s Day we visited the skating rink at the Empire State Plaza…I’ve so missed skating here!   I also suspended the vegan experiment for a short while  on New Year’s Day to enjoy manfriend’s to die for homemade pizza.   It included: goat cheese, cranberries, caramelized onions and figs.  Holy sh*t, it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.   Why can’t goat cheese be vegan?  Goats eat plants, can I consider it a plant?  No?  Crap. Ok.

Tonight I whipped up another faboush recipe from Oh She Glows.  Love her site to pieces.   Creamy Avocado Pasta.   15 minutes and it’s delicious!!!!    This is the avocado “sauce” pre stir.   If you’re someone who used to enjoy cream sauces but no longer can TRY THIS RECIPE.   So yummy!

Alright, back to Louie. I think i have a crush on Louis C.K. I’m still trying to absorb how wrong that is…

Why so expensive?  Well it’s made entirely by hand using only the finest materials.   Personally I think it’s the fancy pattern on the mattress that knocks up the price, it looks like a French male model’s shirt.    Till I can wrangle up the cash I suppose it’s couch city.
